Proverbs 31 Ministries: Daily Devotions

Proverbs 31 Ministries: Daily Devotions: "Power Verses:
Proverbs 2:1-6, “My child, listen to Me and treasure My instructions. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure. Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the LORD grants wisdom! From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. “(NLT)"

I usually read out of the New International Version, but these verses really struck my heart today when I read them from the New Living Translation. I especially love the part about crying out for insight and understanding!
"O Lord, we need you in all we do - may our hearts be filled more and more each passing moment with your guiding Spirit. Train us to be still and listen for the whisper of your voice... let us heed the admonition and love of your Word in the depths of our hearts."

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
~ Matthew 11:28-30
I swiped this picture off of the blog
of my friend, Rachel Sokolik.
Thank you, Dearie! :)

Personal Silliness

Oh how embarassing.

I wore this hat from the kids' dress up collection all afternoon while we cleaned/decorated for the party. Don't ask me why... it made things a bit more fun.
It's good to let that inner child shine through every now and then, ya know? :)

My Newest Treasure

I'm waiting for the iron to heat up so I can begin church clothes prep. for tomorrow morning, and I thought I put up a quick post while I wait. This one's for the gals! (Sorry to my guy followers)

A few weeks ago I went with some of my dearest girlfriends - Mama, Megan, and Jenny - to mall shop in Springfield. I haven't gotten any new jewelry in a long time, so I went with the thought that if I could find something I really liked, I would buy it and the trip would be a total success even if that was all I came away with!

It turns out I ended up with a new skirt (To any guys who are reading this even though I told you it was for the girls: Do you realize how hard it is to find a decent, comfortable, fashionable skirt these days??) and two new items of jewelry! I came away very delighted indeed.

The ring in this picture was my most unique purchase of the trip - I've never bought myself a ring before. For the longest time I only ever wore my "True Love Waits" purity ring, which was given to me by my parents. But now I have this one too! It looks like something that should be worn in Narnia, don't you think?

By the way, in order to give credit where credit is due, I have to tell you all that Megan took this picture. :)

Goodnight Friends ~

The Questions of Guilt and Grace

Every moment of your life, your accuser is filing charges against you. He has noticed every error and marked each slip. Neglect your priorities, and he'll jot it down. Abandon your promises, and he'll make a note. Try to forget your past; he'll remind you. Try to undo your mistakes; he'll thwart you.
This expert witness has no higher goal than to take you to court and press charges. Even his name, Diabolos, means "slanderer". Who is he? The devil.
He is "the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accused them day and night before our God" (Rev. 12:10). Can't you see him? Pacing back and forth before God's bench. Can't you hear him? Calling your name, listing your faults.
He rails: "This one you call your child, God. He is not worthy. Greed lingers within. When he speaks, he thinks often of himself. He'll go days without and honest prayer. Why, even this morning he chose to sleep rather than spend time with you. I accuse him of laziness, egotism, worry, distrust."
As he speaks, you hang your head. You have no defense. His charges are fair. "I plead guilty, your Honor," you mumble.
"The sentence?" Satan asks.
"The wages of sin is death," explains the Judge, "but in this case the death has already occured. "For this one died with Christ."

"What You Already Own"

I give You my heart broken and bruised
But still beating strong and wanting to trust You
I know I'm unfaithful, I know I do wrong
Do You protect what You already own

I give You my body, naked and meek,
Burning with passion, human and weak
I try to be faithful, and then I go wrong
Can You protect what You already own
I know I'm unfaithful, I know I do wrong
Do You protect what You already own

I give you my life, precious and rare
Knowing wherever I've been, You were there
Sometimes I'm faithful, sometimes I'm strong
Will you protect what You already own

I will be faithful, help me be strong
Cause you will protect what You already own
You still protect what You already own
